Al Harris Sucks, Mike Shannhan knows this, Brett Favre does not care

This post will be broken up into two sections:

"to God the glory, and He came through for me in the end"
~Greg Jennings post game interview

The receivers know of the divinity of number four.

Brett Favre is the greatest player to ever play sports.  His arm is the greatest national treasure, and could be the greatest thing the world has ever produced.  His deep passes to Jones and Jennings brought women and children to tears, his lazers to donald driver could have gone through cement trucks, and his enthusiasm gave the suicidal a reason to live.

HOWEVER....

When the game was on the line who did the Broncoes go at?  Al Harris

Who makes me the most nervous when the quarterback looks his way? Al Harris

Who took awful penalties down the stretch, and has all season? Al Harris ( also Atari Bigbie but love for him because of his name)

On fourth and two, with under 120 seconds, the game on the line, Shanahan calls a play for a glorified third receiver, because he knows the dread-locked one will be on him.  First down.  35 yard gain on a drag play over the middle to set up the field goal, not only did Harris allow the catch but looked like a 7th grader tackling Brandon Jacobs.

Something happened this year in the national media, and I have no idea what could have caused the crazy.  "Al Harris is the best bump coverage corner in the league." If I weren't crying I would have been laughing at their horrendous understanding of football.  He is a bump and run corner because he jumps at every route, might as well let the receivers behind him.

Al Harris: My nominee for the worst player ever

You are an idiot. If they put Bush out there at corner instead of Harris see how you would like it. Now go look up who Bush is on the Packers you moron

Numerous WRs (Anquan Boldin, Roy Williams, and Chad Johnson, to name a few), as well as a number of coaches and other players have gone out of their way over the past 2 years to say Al Harris is one of the best in football. Each of those WRs I listed has, in fact, said that Harris is the toughest cover guy in the league. There has to be some merit to their opinions, right?

While he has improved since he left the Eagles, there is a reason he was released for nothing. Actually, two: He was good for 30 yards worth of penalties a game and he let almost everyone get behind him. All it takes is one psuedo-credible personality to say it, and all the others will follow suit. Al Harris is garbage. I would assume most Packer fans who can disassociate from his playoff pick-6 would agree.

"He burned Al Harris! That was a cold blooded connection!" Who can forget that? He sucked then and he sucks now.

I am a Packer fan. He was acquired for a 2nd round pick - that is hardly nothing in the NFL. He has shutout multiple receivers this year, Burress had 2 catches - 1 for a TD vs the safety. Look at last years #1 WR's vs. the Packers. Anyone who says otherwise that this guy isn't a top corner and one of the top man defenders knows nothing. Everyones boy Champ got burned and Bly got burned worst. You get left on an island all the time and that is going to happen like Al Harris is left alone with no safeties to help him.

This blog: My nominee for worst blog ever.

Just for fun, please tell me what CB's in the league are actually better than Harris. If you list more than 5-10 guys, you are an idiot. Actually, even if you don't list anybody you are most likely still an idiot.

Maybe you'd like to harken back to Ahmad Carroll or Terrell Buckley instead? Al Harris is the best DB on the team, plays hurt, and is a warrior week in and week out.

Not sure where all the animosity directed at Harris is coming from, but your logic is way off. And you're just plain wrong. At the cornerback position in the NFL, there is Champ Bailey and there's everyone else. Harris isn't as fast as the league's fastest corners, but he's strong enough to disrupt routes, stays with his man over short areas and makes some plays. That puts him above roughly 75 percent of NFL starting cornerbacks and makes him a great fit for the Packers' scheme. He did a good job for the vast majority of Monday's game, made an ill-advised strip attempt after a great throw from Cutler, then missed the tackle on Marshall. It happens sometimes.

i'm surprised you don't nominate champ bailey and dre bly for worst players ever, each was burned for the two packers td's... surely, champ bailey must be a bad corner because he let rookie james jones get a step on him, ditto for bly because of greg jennings.

i'm tempted to actually defend harris, but i'm guessing that's not going to accomplish anything. needless to say, harris will let his play speak for itself. and you can be doubly sure that the packers won't keep him around if he doesn't perform to his usual high standard (see ahmad carroll cut in the middle of last year, marquand manual cut in training camp, etc).

It's Brandon Marshall you idiot, not Brandon Jacobs. And I agree with above, Bly and Bailey each gave up a huge touchdown, does that mean they also suck? Well, you're right Bly does.

When arguments like this arise, thou must check the Holy Book - in this case, the Madden 08 ratings.

Harris is a 95 overall - not great speed, but great press and zone coverage.

Al Harris is good. Just had a bad game. Just like consensus best corner ever Champ Bailey did that same game.

As it is written, it shall be noted by all.

just a quick couple of answers:

I appreciate your response, both positive and negative, and some of you guys have brought up really good points. However, those of you who just attacked my football knowledge, not necessary. Of course i know who jarrett bush is, and i know who brandon marshall is, do you know who brandon jacobs is? now put the mental image of a 7th grader trying to tackle him. there you go.

Al Harris does suck ballz. Several at once.

Al Harris is a decent CB, but the media has way overhyped him. How many tds has he given up?

I HATE Harris. Most overrated player in the league, not just DB, PLAYER. He's horrid. Go Jets!
